The Craig and Colleen Johnston Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship is open to those between the ages of 14 and 20 who wish to enhance their learning and skills in the performing arts.

The scholarship was first instituted in 2011 by The Cowra Musical and Dramatic Society Inc. and has since been renamed the Craig and Colleen Johnston Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship, in acknowledgment of Craig and Colleen Johnston’s significant influence in making the scholarships available.

Rules and conditions

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 20 years as at 1st January, 2026, be taught in Cowra Shire and be living within a 60 km radius of Cowra.

  • Applicants must complete the application form provided. If the applicant is under 18years of age the application must be co-signed by a parent/guardian.

  • If required, the applicant must be willing to attend an interview with panel members of Cowra Theatre Company.

  • The total prize pool of up to $1500 may be awarded between a number of applicants.

  • Scholarship money must go towards tuition, courses, or other means of learning or enhancement of performing arts skills.

  • The decision of the panel is final.

  • Scholarship money must be used within the financial year of 2026-27 (by 30th June, 2027) Remaining funds will be returned to the general account for future scholarships.

  • The successful applicant(s) must present proof of payment for course/tuition fees, invoices etc. to Cowra Theatre Company.

  • Previous unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to apply.

  • Applications close on Friday 10th April, 2026
